The Museum of Fine Arts Tulcea owns a rich statuary patrimony constituted from 420 modern and contemporary sculptures in which the artists approach various genres: nudes, portraits, compositions. The permanent exhibition shows statuettes belonging to the modern art, works which emphasize that, in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, the independent sculpture (ronde-bosse) imposed itself in the context of the Romanian visual arts.
The patrimony of modern sculpture selectively covers its evolution from the beginnings to the second half of the 20th century. The collection is remarkable through the special value of the works belonging to Ion Georgescu, Dimitrie Paciurea, Frederic Storck, V. Ciresescu, Alexandru Calinescu, Oscar Han, Milita Petrascu, Emilian Celine, Constantin Baraschi, Romul Ladea, Ion Jalea.
