807 works of religious painting, representing Christian-Orthodox Church spiritual values, are comprised in the Museum of Fine Arts patrimony. The collection covers the temporal register of the 16th to 19th centuries. The Lipovan icons are surprising through the elegance and simplicity of the drawing, background decoration and clothing. The decoration of the golden background and the clothing with vegetal elements, the supple calligraphy of the drawing and the chromatic dominancy of the warm are the specific traits of these Lipovan icons which represent outputs of the Russian painting schools.
